started with a mindmap and expanded on the words that were frequently mentioned. the link I liked most was “bubble > circle > world > real world”. I thought, it had the most potential for a great conceptial piece.
a real tricky thing to get across was in one picture, show progress. tried to do this, below are some of the initial ideas I came up with.
TOP LEFT: poorly reflects the “bubble” idea but does demonstrate “progress” well
TOP CENTER: perhaps very unclear, theory behind it is that as a child the world is colourful and fun (like sweets) but at some point you grow up and have to face the real world for what it is.
TOP RIGHT: more central on “bubble”. has broken surroundings contrasting against the bright bubble which has a child, at bliss, inside. almost an escape
BOTTOM LEFT: a lot like the top right image, difference is there is a war going on, the world outside bubble is falling apart but you wouldn’t know from the look on the childs face
BOTTOM CENTER: simple tree, demonstrates a lot of things. roots show childhood, broad trunk reflects growing up and single apple on very tip of tree shows the prize for reaching the top. represents still climbing trees after childhood.
my best idea is TOP LEFT but, as I said, it does not portray innocence in any sense, just growing up.
Is there a way I can combine this one with any of the others to deliver that blend of ‘growing up’ and ‘leaving naivety behind you’?
