My first thoughts were of terror, if I’m honest. There were too many words making it harder for me to focus on just one and seeing it through the Kolb’s cycle. What I was doing was, spitballing an idea for almost every word on the list, not liking it and chosing another word:
This wasn’t getting me anywhere so I decided to do what the original plan was to do, pick one at random. Did this and got the word Calm. Honestly, I wasn’t thrilled about this word when you compare it to the likes of more exotic words on the list (animosity, rejuvinated and melancholy) but I gave myself instructions to just go with the random word and so I did.
When I chose the word, I thought it was going to be really simple as it is just a 4 letter word but if anything it seems harder. How do you put ‘Calm’ across?
I looked again at my research into using type and remember colours were used in an idea to reenforce the theme/feel. Considered calm colours, naturally Blue came to mind.
I then thought a little bit more visually, in terms of what is calm? I thought of the sea and quickly sketched this idea:
Ideas are beginning to form now, its beginning to look a little more conceptial (obviously a fair bit more progress will have to take place)
