I enjoyed this module because I have wanted to work in a group for ages. Rightly or wrongly, I enjoy taking the reigns and the responsibility of making sure the job gets done. And that’s exactly what I did for this module.
The First Half
In the first half of it we were required to work in groups of 7-8 and write a brief about touching the hearts of someone on campus. I was forced to take the lead because it seemed nobody else wanted to and we produced a really poor first presentation. I made sure jobs were given out and people were pulling their weight and I feel we made up for it in the quality of our final presentations and our final brief.
The Second Half
In the final part of this module we had to work in smaller groups, respond to one of the briefs written and present a pitch for our ideas. Our group was the 3 that spoke the most from our pre-existing group. We thought this would help the issue of delayed communication and evenly spreading tasks.
With fewer people needing organising I didn’t need to be so controlling to get the group to meet deadlines, we were all really willing and this showed in our conversations, planning and executing of tasks. We were all happy to do the jobs that needed doing and, in comparison to the first half, we worked great together.
We still have to pitch our ideas in a couple of days but we are all currently remembering the outlined script of what to say. Hopefully we will all know what we are saying and it goes well.
I know it sounds really arrogant to be saying “I took the reigns” but in actual fact I think it shows great character, especially for group work.
