Jumping into this assignment, I am going to choose one of the briefs and stick with it. Making the decision to NOT change my mind will hopefully encourage me to push and push at it until I come up with something unique and conceptually strong.
Breaking Down the Briefs
- Boots ’17’ range:
Initial response is that I am not the best person for the job, I don’t know enough about cosmetics to have the edge
- A New ‘C4’ Channel for Over 60s:
Good opportunity for market research and can try my hand at logo and product design
Not overly stimulating my excitement though
- A ‘HP’ Printer Centre Advert:
Not a great deal of experience in film and already have 2 other film/moving image based projects.
Also my response would likely end up being like every other printer advert- Funky, upbeat music with a technique (gimmick) that makes people remember it. Very successful and works for printer/camera ads but becoming unoriginal now
(See the Video Below for Example)
- ‘Little White Lies’ Cover Illustration:
Choose a film (Drive, Tinker Tailer Soldier Spy, Black Swan, Super 8, The Tree Of Life) and create a unique illustartion for the front cover of the magazine
- ‘Ministry of Sound’ Nightclub Poster:
For the Saturday Sessions event, can be conceptual or literal. There are no real set rules for this one so it could be fun to just go crazy with it
Now to choose which one of these I shall follow up (and see through to the end!)…
I’m thinking ‘Little White Lies’ will be the most fun, I am yet to experience Illustration on this course and it should be interesting to see what angles I can get on these films and, with any luck, create a unique cover.
